July 2019 | By Jakob Kudsk Steensen
A Serpentine Augmented Architecture commission with Google Arts & Culture and Sir David Adjaye OBE.
Collections:
The Deep Listener by Jakob Kudsk Steensen takes you on an audio-visual ecological expedition through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, the area surrounding the Serpentine Galleries.
The AR artwork is the inaugural commission of Serpentine Augmented Architecture, in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture and Sir David Adjaye OBE.
Downloadable as an app for mobile devices, it is both a site specific public installation and a digital archive of species that live within the park.
Exploring how imagination, ecology and technology intertwine, The Deep Listener guides visitors on a journey to both see and hear the sights and sounds of five of London’s species: London Plane Trees, Bats, Parakeets, Azure Blue Damselflies and Reedbeds that are part of the park ecosystem that might otherwise be invisible.
Visit the installation at the Serpentine Gallery from July to September 2019.
